Geo Exposure 3: Distortion

I just recently finished "Distortion" and it features a view of the surrounding area and the nearby
Taguig City that I see from a certain side of the office. The company I work in currently occupies two floors of the building - 16th and 23rd. The reference photo was taken after a meeting in a room of the 23rd floor.

Kind of powdery.
As an admirer of architecture and landscape, I do not take such view for granted and I would always take time to contemplate on it.

I thought of pairing it with another photo of hanging wooden decorations. This was taken from last year's trip to Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

The progression of the piece shows that it is divided into three main areas using the half of the graph of a parabola opening sideways - I hope you are still with me on this one, I can be a little nerdy when it comes to Mathematics. Oh college, what did you do to me?

So far this is the most systematic drawing I made due to the columnar arrangement of the wooden ornaments. The division of areas allowed me show the idea of seeing another perspective of the view, that is specific to the negativity of things. We are presented with the reality on one hand and on the flip side, we see its ugliness or one might say a misrepresentation.

Column 1.
Column 2.
Column 3.
Column 4.
Final column which gave me an easy start.
But then the difficult part set in when I started rendering the window panes.
Done! Colored and watercolor pencils on 8.5 x 11 Bristol board.
The overall process was not entirely enjoyable. Those window panes were quite challenging and annoying. I had to be scrupulous in rendering the lines. I found the top and bottom areas to be the most fun to work on.

P.S. - Here is the inverted version of the drawing. All the exhaustion I felt with this no longer mattered as I was quite happy to see that the top and bottom areas somehow looked like the actual photograph! I guess "Distortion" went to become more distorted.
